Monday which I did, so I am a
foreman of the tool room, but
the works manager is a son of
a bitch. He expects me to have
the run of the shop straight
away. I have been feeling very
much like saying "merde"
but since to day he as come
round a bit, perhaps the
boss has said some to him.
Any how he is like that with
every body, and they <del>ll</del> tell
me to take no notice of
what he says, my colegues are
all nice fellows that is one
good thing. If things in the
future don't turn out all right
I shall "quit" as there is any
amount of work at good
wages. Syl don't say to Dick
<del>who</del> any thing about this tell
him I am all right. I felt
a bit lonely the first few
days, but I have a lot of work
that I don't think about it
now, but you poor old girl
I bet you <del>fall</del> fall a bit [1 word]

that is all that is being
made all over the country.
I am living at our hotel in
a room and I have my meals
out. I am to be payed by the
month but the rate has not
been decided on, as soon as
I see the boss I will ask
him, and if not satisfactory
will go else where. I rather
think that things will
turn out all right, it is my
miserable nervousness that make
me like this; it is rotten.
You will like to know how
my room is, well it is at the
4th floor on the street, has
electric light, polished <del>ok</del> oak
washstand wardrobe, table
le nuit, & panted walls.
The bed very good, but room
a bit cold. Oh! I saw the
boys, and went out the Sataurday
night with them, they look
all right I <del>lel</del> tell you
I will <del>wrte</del> write more

My dear Syl, Maurice, & Maggie
I will not relate my journey
which was nothing extraordinary
except that we were held up
at Queenstown from Monday
until Friday, because of the
submarines. I should have
said Thursday, that day we
were permitted to land and
were sent via Doublin (sic), & Hollyhead
to London, so got
in Friday morning home; Papa
I found not extra good, his
nerves are very bad, he is
terribly irritable.I left the
following Thursday via Boulogne
saw the Bs, of course, very
surprised to see me, I had
supper there and slept at
Julia where I found Nini (?), whom
were of course also very surprised
to see me. I went to Paris
the following day, went to
the factory the following
day & was told to see the boss
