Destrubé family - Photograph of A Company Piquet with note from Georges on reverse, 2nd of 2 copies
Description:
Item is a photographic postcard depicting Georges, Guy and Paul Destrubé as part of A Company Piquet. On the reverse, Georges describes how Piquet duty works in camp and talks about the troop commander. Possibly Clipstone, England.
You have often heard us talk (or rather write) about
being kept "in an Inlying Piquet." This is
a snap of one when we were doing it. It is
changed every night, so one's turn only
comes round about every 3 or 4 weeks.
You will find Paul in the front row but
Guy & I are behind.
The Sergeant in front is now no longer our
platoon commander - he is not so nice a
chap as our present sergeant.
