Support Groups
Being Trans+ in a hostile world is not easy. Some of the earliest forms of community were support groups, organized so that Trans+ people would not feel quite so alone. They were designed to be much-needed welcoming spaces.
Marsha Botzer started the Ingersoll Gender Center in 1977. In her oral history, she describes what the meetings were like back then.
