Printer's device for Italian printer Hieronymus Scotus, excerpted here from Pierre Bersuire's 1574 Dictionarii seu repertorii moralis (Dictionary of Moral Repertory), is allegorical: a woman sits on the world holding an olive branch, and the motto, "Fiat pax in virtute tua," promises that peace comes with virtue.
