Typographical ornament excerpted from the Roman edition of Saint Ephraem Syrus's complete works, Sancti patris nostri Ephraem Syri Opera omnia (1732). This edition exemplifies the typographical art developed in the period to celebrate Christian religion and scholarship. Ornaments of all kinds (full-page engravings, banners, title captions, and initials) appear in many books in the Seghers Collection as symbols of the grandeur of the Catholic Church.
