Description:
An educational poster with pictures and text focused on how and what we can learn from the past. The poster encourages young people to talk to their elders to learn more about life in the past. It is one of five posters prepared for a Banda community event held in 2014. Printed versions of the posters are housed in the Banda Cultural Centre, Ahenkro.

2. Forming a ball of fuura using a calabash, Ahenkro, 2014

Description:
A woman uses a calabash bowl ( chrɛgbɔɔ in Nafaanra) to form a ball of fuura. The food is made from fermented pearl millet, which is ground and mixed together with ground spices and water. The mixture is formed into balls which are boiled. Here some of the boiled, pounded dough is being shaped into a ball, which will be rolled in ground millet before serving. This dish was prepared and served at the Olden Times Food Fair held at the Banda Cultural Centre with sponsorship from Amanda L. Logan. Ahenkro, 30 July, 2014.

Description:
A woman pulls fuura dough from a pounded mass that rests in an aluminum headpan. The food is made from fermented pearl millet, which is ground and mixed together with ground spices and water. The mixture is formed into balls, which are boiled. Here the boiled balls have been pounded into a dough in preparation for forming the balls. They will be rolled in ground millet before serving. 6. Kotro papa, a pearl millet-based food, Ahenkro, 2014

Description:
Close up of finished koto papa, a dumpling made from pearl millet. The food is made by grinding pearl millet on a grinding stone, adding a sprinkle of water and shaping the moistened pounded millet into a ball. The balls are boiled. After cooking, the balls are broken open and served with a stew made from shea oil, onion leaves (gabu) and pepper. 8. Handwoven textile called Kyara and a spindle with cotton thread, Ahenkro, 2014

Description:
A wooden spindle wrapped with cotton thread rests on top of a folded black-and-white textile made from handwoven cotton strips. Cloth of this design is called Kyara. Hand stiching can be seen along the edges where strips have been sewn together. Description:
Two folded textiles made from handwoven cotton strips, pieced together in a design called Dɔnkɔnfra. They were photographed while on display at a Heritage Day and Olden Times Food Fair held at the Banda Cultural Centre. One cloth rests on top of the other. The lighter colored strips in each cloth have white warp threads woven together with white, red and blue weft threads. Darker strips were woven from blue and white warp and weft threads.
