1. Laying out an excavation unit on Mound 101, Kuulo Kataa, 1995

Description:
Banda Research Project team members prepare to excavate a unit in a deep midden mound (Mound 101) at Kuulo Kataa. Orange flagging is tied to grid pegs that have been established across the mound, and white string marks the boundaries of an excavation unit (2W 2S). 2. Clearing Mound 101, Kuulo Kataa, 1995

Description:
Four Banda Research Project team members use cutlasses to clear grass from the surface of Mound 101 at Kuulo Kataa. Mound 101 is a prominent midden mound covering roughly 1200 m2 and rising roughly 3 m above the surrounding ground surface at its apex. Its surface is littered with abundant pottery and metallurgical slag. Kuulo Kataa, June, 1995.
