Humans, History and Ecology in Galápagos The Hacienda El Progreso

Map of Zones of Special Use (ZUEs) in the Galápagos Islands

Description:
Zonas de Uso Especial occupy approximately 3.3% of the park’s terrestrial area in the highlands of the four populated islands: San Cristóbal, Santa Cruz, Floreana, and southern Isabela. The ZUEs were recognized by the PNG in 1996 as areas where the park’s management plan permitted uses that were contradictory to the primary objectives of protected areas, specifically ecosystemic conservation and recreational activities.
