大同書報社大擴張之計畵 嗚呼，大陸將沉，誰爲普度；人心幾死，曷以警魂。同人恐家國之傾覆，憫風俗之衰頹，圖補救之方，故有大同閱書報社之設。三年以來，雖不能一飛沖天，而亦支持歲月。發起祇十餘人，徵求已過數百。臧書逾一千卷，耗費達二千元。其所以不憂不懼者，端賴各界之襄助，社員之維持也。然地處一隅，發達難期，基址折衷，銳進必速，今爲擴張規模。普及志願起見，爰於二月四號，邀集社員公决，僉以擇地搬遷爲宜，遷費則由社員担任，勸募以一百部，每部至少二員爲限。 除遷費外，盡撥爲添置圖籍之用。茲擬租片打及緬街某號二堦全樓，外觀堂皇，內容宏厰，經派人交涉，倘一有的欵。自能咄嗟辦到。樂善諸君，尚祈踴躍捐輸，助成斯舉。則惠賜多矣，是爲引。English translation: Our Plan to Expand the Datong Book Club - I have to lament about the difficult situation. Who can save us? Who can keep us alive when we are at the edge of no hope? We are all worried about the collapsing of our home country and concerned with the corrupting social ethics. Therefore, we set up the Datong Book Club as a solution. Since then, the book club has survived for three years. Our members have increased from a dozen to more than a hundred at present. Our book collection increased to more than 1,000 volumes and the annual cost is more than $2,000. The book club exists all because of the donations from everyone and the support of our members. However, the location of the book club is not convenient, which prevents it from further development. If we can find a way to solve the location problem, the book club will grow quickly. In order to expand its size, we invited all the members to gather and discuss the issue on February 4th. Most agreed that we should move the book club to another place. The club members will share the moving expense. We will set up a hundred groups for fundraising. Each group have no more than two people. The donations that they collect will be put towards the moving fees, and the excess money will be put towards books. Our possible new location is a two-story building with a beautiful external appearance and a large internal space. We have sent someone to contact the owner. To our generous donours, please consider supporting the endeavor, which will greatly benefit (our society). This is just the beginning.
